Hi! First, thank you so much for this amazing breakout! Can I ask you if you have a favorite vsco film preset? Cause they are like 7 types of film and they are quiet expensive. Thank you!

I'm so excited your breakout is finally here! Thanks for all of your hard work on this and sharing what you do! I've heard you mention Jessica Drossin's textures a few times before. Are there any packages of hers that are your favorite? I clicked on the link and noticed that there are quite a few to choose from.

    Thanks!!

Happy to! Play the action. Make sure your brush is selected in the tool bar. Also in the color area make sure white is the front color. White brush applies the action, and black brush will erase it. Play with the opacity if you like and brush the action on your subjects skin. I hope that makes sense. Please let me know if you need more clarification. I can take a screen shot for you.

Thank you! The black channel is brought down to -10, shadows -5, and contrast +5.

Hi Meg! I'm loving your breakout so much and I've only just started delving into it! Thank you for sharing so much, I'm so excited to learn from you! Can I ask you what's in your Soften Skin LR preset? I usually soften skin with a brush, but a preset would be much handier!

Hi Carla! So excited to see you here  I actually do not soften skin in LR. I prefer to do skin edits in photoshop because I think it does a better job with skin touch ups. Basically anytime I want to use a brush I use photoshop. Do you use PS? I love to use Marissa Gifford's skin softening action. Also I will sometimes use a gaussian blur and just lightly apply it to my subjects skin. I have used the skin softening tool in LR before and it does work pretty good, I just prefer PS.

Ah yes, I've just realised you've actually given us your LR depth and skin presets! You're amazing! So I see the skin one is some noise reduction and sharpening, thanks!
I have resisted getting into PS for years, but I've finally decided to take the leap and am going to take the beginners class starting next week! So I'll save all your tips and hopefully be able to apply them soon! xx

Haha I blame it on it being early for me here and I haven't had coffee yet. I see what you mean! Yes my preset reduces noise slightly and bumps sharpening a tiny bit.

Hi, again dear Megan! I was watching your tutorials and already read all the pdf's! I'm a good pupil! lol I don't know if I'm doing things right here in the forum (first time I participate), yesterday I introduced myself but idk if my post sticked. Anyway, can I ask you which of the Jessica Drossin Texture packs do you use? Any money saving is so important and she has like 3 packs. Thanks again!

Does anyone use any other of the VSCO packs that they really like? I've been teetering on buying 05 and I like the look of 01 for a few weeks actually. I've heard VSCO need a lot of tweaking. I've had the sample pack for a while but I find I have to tweak it so much, have you made your own adjustments to the look of the presets in your images Meg? Also I heard the sample is slightly different to the actual Kodak Gold 100 preset, has anyone thought that as well? @megnlo

The only pack I have is 05 so I'm no help there but I do tweak my presets and then lower the opacity. I think I have some examples of what I do in the editing videos. I tend to lower the saturation of the preset before bringing into photoshop to lower the opacity. They are a tad strong for my liking <3

Hi Meg. I'm sure that I totally missed this somewhere in the handouts and videos, but I have a question about the VSCO Gold preset you use. First of all, when you apply that preset, doesn't it just override all the settings you just barely adjusted? For example, I adjusted the shadows, skin tones, etc. first, but when when I applied the VSCO preset before taking it into Photoshop, it just overrode all my settings.

My second question is, how do you move your image into photoshop WITH the preset you applied so that you can reduce the opacity?

Like I said, I'm sure I just missed this in the videos somewhere so I'm sorry to ask again!

Who knew all I had to do was move my furniture around!! (the light in his room is very minimal as there is only 1 small window). Thanks soooooo MUCH!! xo

Sorry for the delay! Yes it does override the edits that you made. I always end up adjusting the preset anyway by hand. Someone just informed me that you can actually buy a plugin in for LR that will lower the opacity of the preset for you. I'm going to get the link to that up in this thread shortly because that would be a huge time savor! Does that make sense?

In the mean time... here is a link to a tutorial I recently did on this
