I love so many things about this! The light is beautiful! I love the lines from the window and cupboards because they bring your eye right to your subject. Not to mention this is such a real moment. Beautiful Heidi. Thank you for sharing!

This is one of my favorites I've taken so far and in such an unlikely place. And as we all know potty training is the pits.

These are from a couple of weeks ago, but fitting I think. I *always* overlooked my bathroom...there are no external windows and the walls are painted mustard...yuck.

However, I noticed the other day that the sun will shine through my daughters window and into the bathroom! Here are two different shots from different angles.

Two totally different results within minutes of each other. ! I was pretty excited to find this "new" source of light.

I spend a lot of time in the house so I try to make the most of my light to keep me shooting. We have floor to almost ceiling windows along the northern side of the house and I'm really challenged to modify the light but if I think about it I can usually find something interesting to work with every day. These are two shots that were outside my normal shooting pattern. The first one is our laundry which joins onto our kitchen. Our kitchen is in the middle of the house and it has the most uninteresting light of all the places in our house. Except for a skylight it gets very little natural light that I find workable, so I find it really hard to shoot anything in there. I had never thought to shoot anything through there but once I thought about my exposure and the framing I could see a workable image. This is the southern side of the house and the light reflects off the rock wall outside. Anyway I let the twins loose and just waited for them to get in position

I shot this today in our back playroom. I saw this pocket of light forming as the sun broke through the clouds and realised if I dropped the blinds I might have something new to play with. I put my son in it with his blocks and thankfully he was happy to play while I took a few shots  and I found some fairy dust!

The light in these is amazing! I'm so glad you played around with manipulating the light. I've found it I don't like the light in a certain room to just manipulate it till I do. Thank you for sharing Norleena!

Wow Tara... the light and emotion in both are stunning. I think your WB looks good here. It looks like you are using a matte effect and it's perfect for the color image. It softens it. The catchlights in your daughters eyes really make them pop. Thank you for sharing!

It is a dark and stormy day, as it often is here in Oregon. We haven't seen the sun in a few days. I also live in an apartment, so my light is pretty limited. No excuses though! I went for it, opening every window in the place today, watching whatever light there was. I took this is in the master bedroom which has an Eastern facing window. I don't ever shoot in here because I tend to pick my camera up in the afternoons. I took your advice and didn't fear the grain. Cranked on the ISO a bit to make the most of what light I had...

Examples of rim and side light from a place in my home I wouldn't normally photograph in...This is my 10 year old son Justus.

Natural light photography is new for me, I always used a flash inside.
This is one of my first attempts with natural light but especially backlight, too blurry I know, I struggle to take good pictures at low speed but I feel the lower speed is necessary to get enough light inespecially since my lense' largest aperture is 3,5...any tips?Click image for larger version.

By the same window (facing west) in our dining room this evening.. I've been amazed by this room. I don't tend to think of it as a room that would have great light in it since it tends to be low light. (Plus, it's not a room with much room to move around due to the big table in it...so it's not the most "appealing" room to photograph in.) However, I'm finding that I love the challenge of looking for light (even low light!) in the unexpected places.

I still have a few rooms to look for light in, but I discovered really nice light in my bedroom and think I will be moving furniture around in here to get some shots in the future! Click image for larger version.

This is so precious! I love the light. One thing you can do is bump up your ISO. Whenever I am capturing fast moving children my SS is at least 1/500 to make sure they are in focus. Sometimes showing blur in images can be great though when we want to capture movement in a creative way  Thank you for sharing!

These are beautiful Tricia but especially that first one... wow! The lines from the blinds act as great leading lines. You can play with this even more by changing your angle to have them lead right to your subject even more. I love the catchlights in their eyes and the shadows create so much depth! Thank you so much for sharing.

Alicia this is beautiful! I love the catchlights and the shadows on the side of her face. It adds so much dimension to her beautiful face... and that dimple and those freckles! Love! Thank you for sharing!

I'm so happy for this breakout and to be able to learn from you, Meg! This was taken over my kitchen sink window. I am really trying to push myself to find different sources of light in my home, yet I don't feel I have the best lighting indoors and find it intimidating -which is why I usually shoot outdoors.

We have lots of windows and blinds, no curtains. One of my oldest watching cartoons in the great room which gets the brightest light in the early morning and my littlest in the kitchen, which gets beautiful light both in the morning and in the afternoon. It's my favorite room

Nothing real exciting, but I'd never normally shoot at noon in the middle of our staircase in this light  Not a big fan of the shadowing on his face, but toddlers just don't follow directions when told where to turn their head  but I loved his smile & dimple...
